Faculty of Arts & Social Science

The Faculty of Arts was established in the year 1958. It has prospered and bloomed since then under the able guidance and strong leadership of its respective Principals and Heads. It has sustained itself against the strong current of competition by the inclusion of a host of vocational subjects at the undergraduate level.

The post graduate course in English was introduced in 1996 and thereafter Geography, Political Science and Economics were introduced in the year 1999. Initiation for opening P.G. courses in other subjects as well, is in the pipeline. Year on year the students of the faculty have emerged out with flying colours securing positions in the merit list of the university and spreading their fragrance all over.

Well equipped laboratories with all modern amenities like computers, over-head projectors and other audio-visual aids are used to facilitate teaching and understanding in the students. All students are individually attended to, during their practical work by qualified Professors and expert Laboratory Attendants. Visits to various work places, field work and educational trips is a regular practice to keep the students abreast of current issues. In addition to these, seminars, symposia, workshops and guest lectures are arranged from time to time for the benefit of the teachers and the students. Group talks, discussions, assignment and its presentation, report writing, semi-surprise class tests are some of the activities which enable young graduates to become self-sufficient and self-reliant individuals. They are ready to undertake with confidence, self-employment and also seek employment in new areas, as the courses opted inculcate in them the spirit of entrepreneurship which would help them survive and flourish in the global market.

Master of Arts degree from Rani Durgavati Vishwavidyalaya, Jabalpur is a four semester degree course run in the Faculty of Arts in the following subjects:
